Hi everybody,

As mentioned in my last mail out, I have been hard at work writing and recording songs for you guys and we’re getting closer and closer to my single release. It’s been fun and I can’t wait for you all to hear it. Did you see my studio pics that I posted on twitter?

Again, I would like to thank you for being the most amazing fans in WORLD. For 4 weeks #FilanFriday has been a worldwide trending topic on twitter! How crazy is that!? We also managed to crash the mailing system the last time I tried to send out one of these because of how many Filaners had signed up to my mailing list. I truly appreciate you all.

Former Westlife member Shane Filan has signed to London Records as a solo artist.

He’s started recording his debut solo album in Nashville as well as the UK. It will be released towards the end of this year.

Shane says ”I am so excited to be joining London Records, Universal Music and being back in the studio in London and Nashville recording new songs has been amazing. One of the things that pleases me the most about this record is that I’ve been given the opportunity to write my own songs. I’m so excited for people to hear them!”

Louis Walsh, Filan’s manager said: “This is a fantastic new deal for Shane, we are thrilled to be part of the team at London Records.”

London Records President Nick Raphael commented: “We are over the moon to have Shane on our roster. I already feel that the strength of the song writing shows Shane at his most creative.”

As part of Westlife, Filan sold over 50 million records worldwide and have accumulated 14 No.1 singles, the third highest in UK history – a feat that won them the accolade of the UK’s top-selling album group of the 21st century in 2010

They also won The Record of the Year (the only music award based on public votes in the UK) a record-breaking four times and in 2012, the Official Charts Company listed Westlife 34th amongst the biggest-selling singles artists in British music history.

Filan will release his new album on London Records later in 2013.

Hi everybody,

So today’s the day! I’m sorry that I had to keep you all waiting for so long, but I hope it’s worth the wait!

Today I’ve signed my first record deal as a solo artist with London Records which is part of Universal Music Group. I’m going to be releasing my first single this summer with my debut album coming later in the year!

I’ve been writing and recording songs over the past few months in both the UK and the USA. It’s been an amazing experience and I’m so excited for you guys to hear the songs that I’ve done. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!!

The past twelve months have been very tough at times but if nothing else it proved to me that family, health and happiness are the most important things in life. Now my focus is on my music and solo career – singing is all I want to do. I am very grateful to be getting this amazing opportunity to work with the team at London Records and I’m going to work as hard as I have ever worked to make this album a success.

The next chapter starts now. I want you all to join me on my journey. Keep checking my website, Facebook and Twitter and you’ll be the first to know all about my news, music, live dates etc.

Former Westlife stars Shane Filan and Mark Feehily will make a welcome return to the music scene later this year.

Mark has said that he is “not waiting around” as is expected to release his debut solo record later this year having been spotted recording in Grouse Lodge, Co Westmeath amongst other studios recently.

When pushed for a date his reply was “Hopefully it will be soon.”

Meanwhile Shane has been busy recording in Nashville, US.

Whilst the guys want to put out there music, both undoubtedly will ensure it matches the usual high standard they’ve set for themselves.

We keep you posted with more news as soon as we have it in-relation to release dates.

Die-hard fans will guarantee a big following for their return to the charts after Westlife who had 14 number 1 singles announced their split in 2011, which finished with a farewel tour ending in June 2012.

Mark Feehily is due to release his album first. Shane Filan has been recording in the US ready for a near xmas release.

JUNE saw the end of the country’s most successful ever boyband — after 14 years at the top.

Shane, Nicky, Kian and Mark made the heartbreaking decision to call it a day, having spent nearly half their lives on stage together.

After 50million record sales worldwide, and earning an estimated €10million each, the four lads hung up their Westlife barstools and went their separate ways.

Showbiz Editor JENNIFER O’BRIEN checks out what they have been up to since.

Kian Egan

KIAN has managed to carve out a massively successful television career in the months since the end of the band.

The 32-year-old father of one juggles his work as a judge on The Voice of Ireland with presenting stints in the UK.

This year saw him land roles on The Xtra Factor, ITV’s This Morning and as a roving reporter on Surprise Surprise.

While he is keeping his music on the back burner, Kian has previously expressed an interest in pursuing band management in the coming years.

Kian divides his time between his mansion in Strandhill, Co Sligo, and a luxury townhouse in the UK.

His son Koa recently celebrated his first birthday and beautiful wife Jodi Albert has previously stated she would like more mini-Kians running around the house.

Shane Filan

SLIGO lad Shane will be glad to see the back of 2012 — a year which saw him declared bankrupt in the UK.

The father of three has been living in London with gorgeous wife Gillian and working on his solo material for the past six months.

After a battle between record companies, Shane, 33, eventually signed with London Records and has been in the studio recording tracks.

His debut solo album is due for release next year and Shane will continue to be managed by Louis Walsh.

Last week, Shane took to Twitter to rubbish talk that he will represent Ireland at next year’s Eurovision finals.

Mark Feehily

SONGWRITER Mark has landed on his feet after signing with the manager of legendary Beatle Paul McCartney.

However, 2012 was up-and-down for him after he split with fiancé Kevin McDaid at the beginning of the year.

But the popular Sligo lad is bouncing back from the break-up and focusing on his music career.

Kind-hearted Mark, 32, has backed the Irish Sun’s Delete Cyber Bullies drive and also campaigns with Childline.

The star lives in London but also still has a home in Sligo which he regularly visits.

Mark has admitted: “Next year is going to be really exciting — I have spent a lot of time in the studio and I can’t wait.”

Nicky Byrne

THE only Dubliner of the band hit the ground running with a stint on Strictly Come Dancing this autumn, Nicky has also completed a number of TV projects for RTE including Football’s Next Star and an upcoming stint on School Around The Corner.

He lives in Malahide with wife Georgina and sons Rocco and Jay and has revealed hopes to pursue a career in radio or television.

Last month, Nicky, 34, revealed that he would also like to delve into the world of musical theatre or film.

He said: “Acting is definitely something I’d consider.

“I did an acting course in New York about five years ago and I made a decision that one day I’d go to the States and try to get an agent.”

AT LEAST two members of WESTLIFE will be dusting off their stools in 2013.

SHANE FILAN has signed a big-money record deal for his solo career and his old DA LOIFE bandmate MARK FEEHILY isn’t far behind.

Shane has signed on the dotted line with London Records and is already deep into work on a debut album, to be released in 2013.

And Mark has taken on PAUL McCARTNEY’S manager to help him carve out a solo career.

Former Westlife star Shane Filan has turned down an offer to appear on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

The 33-year-old will not be jetting out to the jungle to take part in the UTV show.

According to the Irish Daily Star, the singer turned down the chance to appear on the show in order to concentrate on his musical career.

His manager, Louis Walsh said: “Reality TV is not his thing.

“He doesn’t want to be a celebrity, he wants to be a recording artist!

“He’s concentrating on putting a solo album together and is looking for songs and talking to producers.

“He doesn’t have time to be eating insects in the jungle.

Louis also denied that Jedward also turned down an I’m A Celebrity offer.

He said: “No, I don’t know where those reports came from.

“It’s definitely not true. They have received offers from other reality shows but they’re not doing them either. “

Rumoured contestants in this year’s I’m a Celebrity show include darts champion Eric Bristow, Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan and singer Grace Jones.
