TWO hundred and twenty lucky Sligo fans will see Westlife’s last ever concert in their hometown, with the June 23rd farewell from Croke Park to be screened live in The Gaiety Cinema, Wine Street, as a part of a worldwide satellite link. The Croke Park gig sold out in five mintues, leaving thousands of fans disappointed. However, By Experience, a US-based company, will beam the last ever Westlife concert to cinema screens throughout Europe, under license of BBC Worldwide. The concert is also being filmed for DVD release later this year as Westlife exit the stage after 45 million records sold worldwide and 14 number-one singles in the UK-the third highest in history. It will be an emotional night for Sligo-born Shane Filan, Mark Feehily and Cian Egan and for Dubliner Nicky Byrne. Tickets for the live screening of the concert are now on sale at €15 each from The Gaiety box office from 9 a.m., or buy online at www.gaietysligo.ie The show begins at 8.30 p. m. and running time is expected to be approximately two hours.
